The project:
Design and install a kitchen and servery for the staff
restaurant of a prestigious business located in a busy city
centre.
The result:
Overbury, the UK's leading office fit out and refurbishment
specialist, was awarded the contract to transform
Deloitte's 52,000 sq ft office premises located at Four
Brindley Place in Birmingham city centre where its 750 employees
occupy three floors. Overbury were tasked with reconfiguring and
refitting Deloitte's existing offices to create an inclusive,
inviting and inspiring workplace for Deloitte's people and clients
and chose Bettaquip to design and install the kitchen and servery
for the staff restaurant that is located on the first floor of the
building.
To achieve maximum efficiency and reduce environmental impact
the latest cooking technology was proposed by Bettaquip. This
includes a Falcon induction cooking range that only uses power when
a pan is present on the hob for reduced energy consumption and
improved, cooler working condition free of products of combustion.
An efficient Frima Multi Function Cooker does the work of a bratt
pan, boiling kettle, and fryer all in one unit up to four times as
fast and with 40% less power consumption. Stacked Rational
combination ovens are fitted with sophisticated electronic controls
that match cooking conditions to the task in hand for faster
results with reduced shrinkage.
A similar high tech solution was specified for the dishwashing
area. The Meiko DV80 hood dishwasher is equipped with GiO reverse
osmosis water treatment to demineralise water to a purity level of
around 98% for crystal clear results and an Activ Air feature
reduces steam emissions, making for a much more pleasant working
environment.
The servery design incorporates a curved stone with Oak laminate
frontage to serve as a focal point and complement the décor of the
restaurant.
Planning and logistics were key to the success of the project
with only restricted deliveries allowed into Brindley Place and
with the kitchen located on the first floor specialist lifting
equipment had to be used to get heavy oversized items up the
stairs.
The response:
Haydon Whitehead, the Overybury Project Manager, described the
fit out by Bettaquip as "an excellent performance".
